Do you think it is possible to change the issues we've discussed?

Most definitely yes. People frequently get ‘stuck’ in the way they think and feel about something and this is reflected in the way they behave.

In therapy, we become increasingly aware of our own self, and begin to understand how we have considerably more options and choices than we realise. Change comes about by replacing old, restrictive decisions with new decisions, culminating in a more fulfilling life.

How can counselling and psychotherapy help me?

Counselling and therapy helps because it is through talking about how you feel, think and behave, that you begin to make sense of your life. You start to accept the things you need to accept, and change the things which can realistically be changed.

What kind of things might I talk about?

Absolutely anything that is on your mind. Counselling and psychotherapy can be beneficial for anyone who is experiencing personal difficulties.

Is what we talk about confidential?

The things we talk about in the counselling room are confidential. However, there are certain ethical and legal obligations which must be considered. These issues will be explained when we come together for our first meeting.

How many times will I need to come?

The number of sessions you require depends on the issues you are working on. During our initial meeting we will agree on the number of sessions you wish to attend, and then in future sessions we will review the effectiveness of the therapy and decide whether or not to book further appointments.

How much does it cost?

The fee for a session is negotiated during our initial meeting. Consideration is given to each client’s financial circumstances, and the fee we agree on reflects the amount a person feels they can afford.

How long does a session last?

A session lasts for one hour.
